Making Time for Love

Before me is a small, blue lake. Kissed on all sides by the shore’s lush greens and yellows. Shimmering and rippling, it gives off a cool breeze that grazes my bare legs and tickles the grass around me. My best friend and I read our books, legs outstretched, feeling the sun warm our semi-nude bodies. The other girls are coming soon to join us. This is summertime’s sweetest offering. I’m in my body and nowhere else.

This series celebrates the art of hedonistic pursuits and deliberate cultivation of joy. Living within Los Angeles‘ bustling creative scene is invigorating, making intentionally pausing productivity and making time for leisure that much more challenging. My friends are better at this than I am, and they remind me to stay balanced. To value stillness when life tells us to keep it moving.
